Josh, a junior from West Virginia, had the privilege of baptizing two new believers over the summer. He wrote, "This has been an amazing summer to grow in the Lord, and it's exciting to start another year at Appalachian Bible College."
"Have you ever given serious thought that God wants YOU in some form of ministry?"
Dr. Cary Perdue, a 1955 alumnus and veteran missionary, presented a very direct and passionate question in yesterday's chapel. What is your answer?

"O God, you are my God; early will I seek you: my soul thirsts for you, my flesh longs for you in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is." Psalm 63:1
In the midst of the Andes mountains this summer, Emma Burkey discovered that “there’s no such thing as a stereotypical missionary.” From Ecuador’s largest southern city, Loja, to the surrounding rainforests, Emma found that one of the most influential ministries she performed was the role of big sister. Though assisting in other areas such as street evangelism, children’s teacher, and TESOL (teaching English to speakers of other languages), her role as an older sister in the lives of the missionary kids was perhaps her most vital. Captivated by the people and culture after spending more than 10 weeks there, Emma left Ecuador with a longing to return. Still molding her life is the lesson that “God doesn’t expect me to be perfect; He expects me to be willing.”

Pray this with us!
It is Prayer Emphasis Week at ABC as we are especially focused on preparing our hearts for Missions Conference next Monday-Wednesday. Why not take a minute and join us in prayer, too?
All are welcome to our Missions Conference this Monday-Wednesday. Featured speakers will be Steve Herzig (The Friends of Israel) and Michael Hajj (Arabic Bible Outreach Ministry). It promises to be a spiritually challenging three days as we explore the only means of true and lasting peace: Christ and His Gospel.
During this Prayer Emphasis Week at ABC, freshmen took a prayer walk around campus. Student partners used the PARTS acronym together: Praise, Admit, Request, Thanks, Silence.
How do you spell "blessing"? How about S-O-W-E-R-S? Or R-V-I-C-S? These two groups of senior volunteers have provided cheerful labor around campus the last couple weeks.
From mending life jackets and processing mailings to painting stairwells and installing a guardrail—these kind folks have been a tremendous help! Thank you, SOWERS (Servants On Wheels Ever Ready) and RVICS (Roving Volunteers In Christ's Service).
Thank you, The Register-Herald (Official), for getting the word out about our Missions Conference this coming Monday-Wednesday.
Friends of ABC: take a walk or jog around our beautiful campus, enjoy the fresh fall morning, bring home a goodie bag and maybe a door prize—and, best of all, support our Missions Conference along with 130+ others. There's still time to register online for the first ever Beautiful Feet 5k Fun Run/Walk!
Special thanks to our sponsors:

Every fall, student committees work hard to facilitate ABC's Missions Conference. From the music to decorations to child care and much more, the 3-day event is largely led by students. One committee produced a promo video to whet our appetites for "Peace in a World of Tension."
And they're off! About 130 participants raised more than $850 for our Missions Conference during this morning's Beautiful Feet 5k Fun Run/Walk on campus. Finish results: abc.edu/5k

How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel. (Romans 10:15)
This fundraiser for the Appalachian Bible College Missions Conference drew about 125 runners and walkers of all ages.
Here is what Drew, a senior, shared during the first morning of Missions Conference 2015:
"Before the Missions Conference, Katie and I were really excited to see where the Lord would lead. I really have no idea what God is calling me to do, whether to go to seminary or across the world or stay here in America. But I just found myself praying, 'Lord, whatever you have us to do, we will do.' And I think that's the heart of what missions is about."
Pray for God to lead Drew and his wife to a gospel-advancing ministry.
"The Book you carry and the Savior you profess is Jewish," Steve Herzig reminded us to show love toward Jewish people and win them to the Messiah, Jesus.
Meanwhile, Michael Hajj sobered us with this statistic: 1.6 billion Muslims in the world, many of them questioning Islam and curious about Jesus.
It's all part of "Peace in a World of Tension," our 2015 Missions Conference at ABC. We are exploring Jewish and Muslim cultures and the gospel that brings peace. The conference has gone too quickly! Tomorrow is the final day—but what God is teaching will stick with us for a long time.
