Preparing Church Musicians to Declare God’s Worth
Both Isaiah and John record “worship” as one of the primary activities in heaven. Jesus defines acceptable worship as consisting of spirit and truth. In the local church, musicians have the opportunity to lead worship in a way that mirrors the praises of heaven, focusing on God and in line with Scripture’s truth.
The accredited Music degree with a Worship concentration at Appalachian Bible College will equip you with various skills necessary to lead a church music program such as conducting, administration, and technology. In order to best prepare you for Biblically-sound music ministry, you will double major in Bible / Theology and Music.

At ABC, the Music major with the Worship concentration is unique. Not only does it provide a firm foundation of Bible content, it also gives a well-rounded curriculum of music theory, philosophy, ministry training, and a practical internship. With a broad range of electives, you can tailor your degree to your particular giftedness and divine calling.
Throughout the Music Department, a family-like atmosphere ensures that you will receive the highest level of one-on-one mentoring, enabling you to graduate with the confidence and support to get right into ministry.
Your degree in Music - Worship will culminate with a senior research project. In close collaboration with your faculty advisor, you will write on a topic relevant to church worship as it relates to music.

The church today is in desperate need of godly musicians who know God’s Word and can lead believers in worship in spirit and in truth. We are committed to training men and women who desire to edify the local church and its ministries.
As an ABC student, I appreciated the opportunities I was given to develop leadership skills by serving on music ensembles, participating in a local church ministry, and leading children’s ministries. I felt prepared to step into ministry wherever God would lead me. Now, I am thankful for the privilege to serve the students of ABC as they prepare for a lifetime of service.

Overview
From ancient Israel to the twenty-first century church, music has always held an important place in public worship. Worship really is one of the primary themes of the Bible and the believer’s first priority. To worship is simply to declare, both publicly and privately, God’s worth. Today’s church, perhaps more than ever, needs qualified leaders who can do this—both clearly communicate and personally exemplify a Biblical model for worship, especially in the realm of music.
